«Ave Maria»
painting
25 January – 19 February 2011
My ancestors spoke in Aramaic.
In the language of the commoners - the language of Christ.
AVE MARIA
In the white dream of linen canvas Mary at the cradle.
Warm happiness - little Joshua.
In the house of the carpenter Joseph golden light is flowing.
Freshly-planed wood smells - a lot of orders.
Tables, chairs, and crosses - a lot of crosses.
Humped streets of Nazareth, immersed in a viscous haze of passing day.
3762 year from creation.
Jerusalem. Delirium of Rose Street.
The road to Calvary. Unbearable pain.
The cries of the crowd. The smell of horse sweat and blood. The cross becomes heavier.
The earth goes away from under his feet. Sweep of the whip - the sky falls.
33 year of new era.
Teacher.
I meet his gaze. We had the same blood.
Who am I? Where and why am I here? I see the eyes of Mary.
And look away.
My ancestors spoke in Aramaic.
In the language of the commoners - the language of Christ.
